JOINT STATEMENT: BOARD OF DEPUTIES AND THE JEWISH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL – ATTEMPTED ARRESTS OF VISITING ISRAELIS

Since publication of the legal opinion commissioned by the JLC last month, the Board and the JLC have continued to engage with and make numerous representations to Senior Ministers, Officials in relevant Government Departments and Opposition members. Equally, a successful Board grassroots campaign galvanized many members of the Jewish community to lobby their local MPs on this issue.

The Government know that they must act on this. We welcome their confirmation that they are committed to delivering a remedy and are assured that the Government will in due course, relay a specific solution. In the meantime, we will continue to use every available opportunity to maintain the pressure.
